Job description Job Description The Virtualization Specialist Job Type: The Virtualization L2 System Engineer & Specialist (Nutanix is added advantage) Role & responsibilities: Plan, design, and implement VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments including management and workload domains. Deploy and configure NSX-T/NSX-V, including logical switching, routing, firewalls, and network services. Set up and manage vSAN clusters, including stretched clusters, fault domains, and storage policies. Deploy and configure the VMware Aria Suite components (Aria Operations, Aria Automation, Aria Operations for Networks, and Aria Lifecycle). Lead and execute workload migrations to VCF environments, including from legacy 3-tier infrastructure and non-VMware platforms. Use tools such as VMware HCX, vMotion, cold migration, and VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for seamless migrations. Conduct pre-migration assessments, dependency mapping, and develop migration runbooks and rollback plans. Use VMware Aria Automation (formerly vRA) to automate provisioning and lifecycle management of virtual machines and infrastructure services. Integrate monitoring and alerting with Aria Operations (vROps) and Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI). Build and maintain workflows using vRealize Orchestrator (vRO). Provide post-deployment support, performance tuning, and ongoing optimization of deployed infrastructure. Identify and resolve complex issues across compute, storage, and network layers. Support sales team in their presales requirement. Required Technical Expertise Strong hands-on expertise & experience in deploying & managing ESXi hosts clusters, vCenter servers (7.x, 8.x), configuring standard & distributed switch, SAN storage – FC, ISCSI, NAS, HA / DRS. Hands on experience with ESXI and vCenter Update / Upgrade / Migration activity. Competency to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues such as storage path failures, network bottlenecks, and hypervisor-level issues. Experience: Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in VMware administration and engineering. Deep understanding of HCI concepts, server hardware architectures (Dell, HPE, Cisco UCS), and operating systems (Windows, Linux). Expertise on Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), including Nutanix clusters, Prism Central/Element, and Nutanix storage configurations (storage pools, containers) shall have added advantage. Deep knowledge of the entire VMware ecosystem, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and NSX-T/NSX-V. Experience with VCF implementation, lifecycle management, and SDDC Manager. Strong understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, security protocols, micro-segmentation) and storage solutions (SAN/NAS, iSCSI). Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (PowerCLI, Python, Ansible) shall have added advantage. Knowledge of backup, monitoring (vROps, Log Insight), and disaster recovery solutions. Certifications: Mandatory: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) Highly Desirable: VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and / or Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), ITIL Certification Excellent communication and documentation abilities Ability to work independently and in a global support team Problem-solving mindset, ability to multitask and work under pressure.
