Job description Role & responsibilities Reactor Section Operator (EPS Manufacturing) Reactor Operations Operate and monitor the suspension polymerization reactor through the full batch cycle, maintaining prescribed temperature, pressure, agitation, and dosing parameters as per SOP. Charge raw materials accurately demineralised water, styrene monomer, initiators, suspending agents, and other additives — following the approved batch recipe. Monitor reaction progress, control exotherm, and take corrective action on deviations; record all process parameters in batch logs. Chemical Handling & Safety Handle styrene monomer and other hazardous chemicals safely, observing storage, transfer, and inventory protocols. Use prescribed PPE at all times and ensure proper grounding/bonding during flammable liquid transfer. Comply with PESO, Petroleum Rules, and ATEX requirements; maintain housekeeping and report leaks, spills, or unsafe conditions immediately. Quality & Process Control Draw in-process samples (bead size, conversion) and coordinate with QC; adjust parameters to meet grade specifications. Ensure correct grade-wise sieve fractions and minimize off-spec production. Packaging Activity Operate packaging lines for finished EPS beads — weighing, bagging, sealing, and palletizing as per grade and customer specification. Verify net weight, labelling, batch traceability, and FIFO dispatch readiness. Maintain cleanliness of packaging area and prevent product contamination or cross-mixing. Maintenance & Documentation Carry out routine inspection of reactor, agitator, valves, and utilities; report abnormalities for preventive maintenance. Maintain accurate records of batches, consumption, and shift handover notes.
