Manager (Rake Logistics)

Job description We are looking for an experienced and result-driven Manager Rake Logistics to oversee and manage end-to-end railway rake operations. The role involves coordinating rake placements, ensuring efficient loading and unloading operations, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving operational excellence through effective logistics planning and execution. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in railway logistics, government liaisoning, turnaround time (TAT) management, and logistics process optimization. Key Responsibilities Railway Rake Operations Plan, coordinate, and monitor inbound and outbound railway rake movements. Ensure timely rake placement, loading, unloading, and dispatch operations. Track rake movements and proactively resolve operational bottlenecks. Monitor demurrage, detention, and implement measures for cost optimization. Liaison & Stakeholder Management Liaise with Indian Railways and government authorities for rake allotment, approvals, and operational support. Build and maintain strong relationships with railway officials and local stakeholders. Coordinate with internal departments including procurement, plant operations, dispatch, and logistics teams. Operational Excellence Ensure adherence to defined Turnaround Time (TAT) for loading and unloading operations. Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce operational delays. Analyze logistics performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate records and MIS reports related to rake operations. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with railway regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies. Adhere to safety, environmental, and operational standards across all logistics activities. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 10 - 15 years of experience in railway logistics, rake handling, and transportation management. Proven experience in dealing with Indian Railways and government authorities. Strong understanding of rake planning, dispatch coordination, and TAT management. Experience in industries such as Steel, Mining, Cement, Power, or Heavy Manufacturing will be preferred. Willingness to work from Ramgarh and manage field operations as required.
